Mimosa Pudica is a fascinating plant and a brilliant learning tool for little ones. Originating from Southern and Central America it can now be found worldwide in more temperate climates. Mimosa pudica is well known for its rapid plant movement. It undergoes changes in leaf orientation termed "sleep". The foliage closes during darkness and reopens in light. The sensitive plant reacts to touch, vibrations or loud bangs by closing its foliage and dropping its young branches in a movement which is visible to the human eye.
