Grow your own Venus Fly Trap Plastic Free Seed Kit Limited Stock
The Venus fly trap (Dionaea muscipula) is one of the coolest and the most well known of all carnivorous plant species.
They are native to subtropical wetlands on the East Coast of the United States in North Carolina and South Carolina. They live in regions with poor marshy soil that lacks nutrients, and they have cleverly evolved into a carnivorous species to provide them with the nutrition that they lack from the soil.
They trap their prey through enticing them into the traps using its flower-like reddish color and ripe fruity smell on leaves. Seeking nectar, an insect will inevitably touch the highly sensitive sensory hairs on the leaves after 2 seconds the trap will snap shut on them.
Once trapped the plant will send a acid like liquid into the trap which dissolves the insect and allows the plant to digest the nutrients.
