Radish Sowing Instructions
Grow your own Radish
Sow Radish seed inside on a windowsill or outside from February to September. Sow 4-5 seeds in your 9cm pot well spaced out. If you would like to sow more than that they can be transplanted to the garden or even large pot outside. However if space is limited 4-5 seeds and repeated sowing when your first crop has been harvested. Germination normally takes 5 to 7 days. Harvest usually 3 to 4 weeks after sowing
Step 1 - Pop compost disc in a bowl with approx 200ml of water and allow to expand (usually 10-15 minutes)
Step 2 -Fill pot with compost
Step 3 - Sow seeds approx 0.5cm deep in the compost.
Step 4 - Place on warm windowsill
Step 5 - Keep compost moist not wet. Once the compost has dried out a little from being dissolved compost should feel cold to touch not wet or soggy.
Seeds will germinate in 5-7 days after sowing.
Radish is an easy to grow and quick to mature salad crop. Summer radishes are small, walnut-sized, round or cylindrical in shape and are eaten raw in salads. Winter radishes a larger and more turnip like. Like summer radish they can be eaten raw in salads or they can be cooked like a Turnip or Swede. Radish seedling leaves can also be used as cut and come again salad.
